Bus and road connections:
Transport links in the Republic of Croatia are very well developed, and road is the most cost-effective way to travel. The bus terminals in Zagreb, the capital, and the city of Rijeka have daily bus services to and from the island of Rab, sometimes as many as a few times a day. It is also possible to reach the island by bus from other towns: Sibenik, Split, Zadar, Pula, Karlovac, etc. All the above-mentioned cities have routes extending further across Europe, the busiest being towards Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland, Hungary, etc.

Rail transport:
The city of Zagreb is connected with international railway routes. The lines from Vienna, Budapest, Venice and Ljubljana have several trains each day. From Zagreb, there are trains to destinations all over Croatia, including the port of Rijeka. The catamaran terminal and the main bus station in Rijeka are only a few minutes’ walk from the railway station.

Road directions:
Travelling by car from Rijeka, drive south towards Karlobag. 105 km down the Adriatic coastal road, turn right for the Jablanac ferry port and cross over to the island on one of the ferries that constantly operate on the Jablanac-Mišnjak (Rab) line. The other way to reach the island by car is by ferry from the port at Valbiska on the island of Krk, which is connected by a direct line to Lopar on Rab. If travelling on the highway from Zagreb, take the Žuta Lokva exit. From there, head down the mountain road to Senj, and continue southwards. After 30 minutes’ driving, turn right to the ferry port of Jablanac.

Directions when travelling from abroad:
Via Salzburg and the Karawanken Tunnel into Slovenia, travel onward via Ljubljana and Postojna in the direction of Croatia and the city of Rijeka. From Rijeka, continue along the Adriatic coastal road for 105 km to the ferry port of Jablanac or over the Krk bridge to the island of Krk, and from Valbiska harbour by ferry to Lopar on the island of Rab. Via Vienna and Graz into Slovenia, travel onward via Maribor to Zagreb. From the direction of Budapest and the town of Varaždin, also go towards Zagreb. From Zagreb, go along the highway to Žuta Lokva, then onward in the direction of the town of Senj, and then 38 km along the Adriatic coastal road in the direction of Split to the ferry port of Jablanac.
Via Switzerland into Italy and onward via Milan, Venice and Trieste to Slovenia, continue in the direction of Croatia and the city of Rijeka. From the city of Rijeka, go along the Adriatic coastal road for 105 km to the ferry port of Jablanac or over the Krk bridge to Valbiska
harbour on Krk and by ferry to Lopar harbour on the island of Rab.

Airlines:
There are international airports in Zagreb, Rijeka, Split, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Pula and on the island of Krk. The Imperial Hotels and Campsites company organises transfers from airports to the island of Rab for guests arriving in Croatia by plane. In the 2012 season, we will offer a transfer service from the airport in Rijeka and other airports in Croatia.
